I love Ravnica

Perhaps this isn't the time to talk about forbidden love. Not really 'Brokeback' level of forbidden, more along the lines "embarassing for a 35-year-old to still be playing Magic" kind of forbidden.

That being said, I love Ravnica. This block is why I still play Magic. It is the best designed, most balanced set of cards that WotC has ever put out. It is fabulous. And now we are on the bring of the online release of Guildpact, the second set in the block. I am really looking forward to playing with the Orzhov, as Black/White is second only to Blue/White as my favorite color combination.

The first deck I plan to make is based around the pairing of Skeletal Vampire and Twilight Drover.

I love the interaction between the Skeletal Vampire's reproducing bats and the Twilight Drover's getting stronger as tokens die. Add in Teysa, and you have a deck that delights my inner Johnny, and might even be competitive.

This is the initial decklist:

Bats at Dusk
Standard legal

4 Caves of Koilos
1 Eiganjo Castle
5 Plains
5 Swamp
4 Godless Shrine
1 Miren, the Moaning Well
1 Orzhova, the Church of Deals
3 Orzhov Basilica

4 Teysa, Orzhov Scion
4 Twilight Drover
4 Skeletal Vampire

4 Hissing Miasma
4 Last Gasp
4 Mortify
4 Otherworldly Journey
4 Promise of Bunrei
4 Terashi's Grasp

Sideboard
3 Castigate
3 Ghost Council of Orzhova
3 Hand of Cruelty
3 Orzhov Pontiff
3 Umezawa's Jitte

The Otherworldly Journeys not only save a creature from removal, but if they are used on the Vampire, it creates more bat tokens, and if it is used on the Drover, it gives the Drover a +1/+1 token that it can use to start making it's own tokens. The synergies between the creatures is fantastic. Now it is a matter of balancing the other cards.
